Tucker Versus Huckabee
It Was like a Kangaroo Court
If you haven’t seen the Tucker Versus Huckabee confrontation, I supplied a link to it below. I did not watch the entire episode because it was a disgusting mess. Instead of it being a conversation, it was a deliberate case of obfuscation by Tucker designed to make Huckabee look bad—no matter what Huckabee said.
Tucker was disrespectful. He sneered. He laughed maniacally. He shouted. He interrupted Huckabee almost every time Huckabee was explaining a prior statement or answering a query. Tucker’s line of questioning was incoherent in many respects. The questions jumped back and forth and were fired off as if coming from a Gatling gun. It was obvious that Tucker’s goal was to discredit Huckabee, the Jewish people, the Jewish state of Israel, our country’s military support of Israel, and quite possibly the Bible.
Interestingly, almost immediately the governments from Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Oman issued statements condemning some of Huckabee’s comments, joined by both the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League. The statements that upset them was when Huckabee declared it would be “fine” if Israel took over the entire Middle East.
Here’s how the contentious segment of the interview unfolded, according to a transcript and commentary:
Huckabee was asked in an interview with US conservative commentator Tucker Carlson about his understanding of a biblical verse suggesting that land including parts of Egypt, Syria and Iraq had been divinely promised to the Jewish people.
Carlson said that according to the Old Testament, the boundaries would be “basically the entire Middle East.”
He continued: “Does Israel have the right to that land?”
“Not sure we’d go that far,” Huckabee said in reply. “It would be a big piece of land.”
Carlson then pressed him: “Does Israel have the right to that land?”
“It would be fine if they took it all,” Huckabee responded, before adding, “I don’t think that’s what we’re talking about here today.”
Carlson asked: “You think it would be fine if the state of Israel took over all of Jordan?”
It was then that Huckabee fully realized Tucker’s goal. It was a setup set by a twisted mind.
At one time I thought Tucker was a very decent fellow. But it seems he has changed over the past two years. I no longer respect his reporting. Apparently he wants to be famous for controversy rather than logical conversations.
On X the commentary, pro and con for Tucker, seemed to run about 50/50. That sort of fits the divide our country consists of these days. What I saw was a one-sided confrontation. A gentleman sat down to have a logical conversation with, what turned out to be, an extremist with a totally different agenda. It certainly wasn’t what the gentleman was expecting therefore it wasn’t good for either one of them.
